Description
It’s time to throw back your head and cackle at nature’s petty attempts to rain on your parade with the WEN 5,500-Watt Generator. Boasting an impressive 5,500 surge Watts and 5,000 running Watts, this generator will ensure that your basement stays dry, your meat stays cold, and your TV stays on under even the harshest of weather conditions. The EPAIII 389cc 13 HP OHV engine along with the 6.5 Gal. fuel tank combine to provide users up to 11 hours of runtime at half load. The WEN 5,500-Watt Generator includes four 120-Volt 20 Amp 3-prong receptacles, 1 twist-lock 120/240-Volt 30 Amp receptacle (L14-30), and 1 car-charger-style 12-Volt DC outlet. The WEN 5,500-Watt Generator also comes packed with features, including a spark arrester, a necessary addition to meet the standards for use in U.S. National Parks and Forests. The automatic voltage regulator helps produce cleaner and safer power to protect your electronics. Power indicator lights above the receptacles inform users as to whether or not the outlets are live, while a circuit breaker protects the generator from surge damage. The included wheel and handle kit makes mobility simple for tailgating, job sites and campgrounds. Low-oil shut down safeguards the unit from damage while the digital hour counter helps users stay on a routine maintenance schedule. Includes a 2-year warranty.

Bought this generator as a back up in case of a power outage. No outage yet but I did test it to make sure it powered my house which it does when plugged in to my transfer switch. This had more than enough power for what i need.

So far…so good. Purchased this generator right before a hurricane was supposed to hit. Shipping was fast and right on time. It is a large generator at 13HP and 180 pounds. However, the wheel kit and handles are easily installed and the handles make it very easy to move around. It does not come with a container of oil enclosed as some do. Be aware that you’ll need to purchase that separately. I filled the oil and gas, followed the starting procedure, and it fired up on the very first pull. Ran nice and smooth. Fairly loud at 74 decibels, but it’s a big engine. I purchased a 10 foot power cord separately for it. I have an L14/30 male plug mounted in a waterproof housing outside the garage. It is wired into the main breaker box for the house, so I can pick and choose which breakers I want to run at any given time. I tried several at once, lights, refrigerator, outlets and no problem. Then I turned them all off and tried our 1HP well pump and the generator hardly even coughed starting that up. I even ran the Heat Pump system for a 2100 sq. ft. house and once again, very little drop in rpm on startup and when running it- no problem at alll. The hurricane never hit and the power never went out, so I can’t comment on how the generator does over time yet, but so far it’s been great.

This generator was pretty easy to assemble with 2 people. So far everything has worked great and probably the only issue i have is that its loud and can be hard to pull start.

Fired up on the first Pull of the cord. Runs a bit noisy and the pull cord is to close to the frame. Have to be careful pulling it . Other than that it is a good buy

The generator was easy to assemble you have to go and purchase oil , but after adding oil adding some gas first pull took right off I did notice that the tires are a little bit skinny and it may mar into the ground if it’s ground soft but wen does sell a bigger tire kit for for 20 dollars, I highly recommended it
