I bought this camera as an upgrade from the Canon T1i. And it is worth every single penny. The main thing that I wanted was a camera that wouldn’t die extremely when doing videos. This is it. The image quality is amazing. I edit in Adobe Premiere and everything FINALLY works together. Yes! Yes! and Yes!

PROS: This camera is PERFECT for beginners. the settings are simple, the sound quality is AMAZING I haven’t even purchased a mic yet & the picture quality is just as good as an iPhone or BETTER. I’m not a tech person but I know they put thought into this camera for beginners. You get all the cool features just by a touch of a button and then you have manual where you can adjust things yourself and even manual is simple! I was a bit intimidated to try manual but I’ve been learning cool tricks for this camera on YouTube and I love it now !
CONS: The battery life Sucks! It’s not the worst but it could deff Could be better. it espcially sucks when you do video and you can only shoot a 30min video before it stops and you have to hit record again. So if your trying to get cinematic shots and you record a quick clip here and there, then the battery will die faster, but if you record all the way through say like a vlog, or something of you just sitting and talking then the battery life lasts a bit longer.
ALSO! the other con is if you shoot a 30min video and you try to send it to your phone through canon app, then it won’t work it will say “insufficient storage” & I deleted almost EVERYTHING on my phone idk if it just happened to me but in my experience it only let me send 10min videos to my phone through the app, so I had to get an iPad. Just a heads up:)

This camera has all that I needed to capture photos and videos for instagram. I was using my iPhone 8. Now I can take really great photos and change lenses If I need to. I bought a gorilla pod and rode mic. Now I have a great setup if I ever wanted to do Youtube. All-in-all the camera for the price. A lot Cheaper than SONY A6500 and A7. Importantly it is Canon first 4k Camera. Just get a wider lens/adapter if you are worried about the 4k cropping

Overcoming the mirrorless/DSLR switchup fear-
Quality and classic expectations from Canon! Shot film for a couple years prior to jumping into DSLR…. I have been a hardcore DSLR fan since 2008…. Fast forward to Dec 2019….I have been eyeballing mirrorless for sometime but afraid to put down my DSLR….for fear of new things pretty much..lol… Finally pulled the trigger on the M50 at my local best buy, and never looking back! The DSLR setups are officially tucked in a case in the basement, and I am stuck on the M50.
-Little tech info review….
The kit lens is perfect for small area vlogging setups,I am running the RODE micro and love the side flip oug screen feature Canon offers when running a hotshoe mic, and vlogging…Other Mirrorless cameras have a flip up screen which usually gets in the way of a hotshoe mic. I do wish the scroll control up near the main shutter button scrolled in the direction you scrolled… my setup is inverse for some reason… just an annoying thing I catch myself every time I use the camera not remembering… maybe I am just crazy… but annoying as can be… Back to a positive topic of this camera….This camera is easily the lightest device in my daily pack… I know that sounds crazy… kit lens and all this thing is sooooo light! Hope you get this camera and begin to document your life like no one else can!
